Chicago's 10th Ward

About the Southeast Side of Chicago

Chicago’s 10th Ward is one of the most unique wards in the City. We are home to seven distinct neighborhoods; Hegewisch, East Side, South Deering, Jeffery Manor, Slag Valley, South Chicago, and The Bush. Nestled on the shores of Lake Michigan, it is the only ward that borders Indiana. Geographically we are also the largest ward in Chicago.

Home of the only Illinois State Park in the City of Chicago, William W. Powers State Park offers 160 acres of various recreational activities such as; hiking, bike trails, waterfowl hunting, fishing, and

pavilion reservations.

The 10th Ward is diverse, with wetlands, industrial zones and public parks. The ward’s main commercial corridors are Commercial Avenue, Baltimore and Ewing Avenue. They are home to many family-owned small businesses.
